A smell of death

Sasha laid down in her bed listening to the raindrops hitting the roof above her. It was like listening to a silent sad melody. Drip, drop, drip, drop. Sasha enjoyed this kind of noisy silence if you could call it that. Of couse such a moment of peace would be interrupted rudely, by her parents yelling from downstairs. They had once again started fighting. What was it this night? Was it about who forgot to clean the windows, or who forgot to buy milk. They fought often, almost every night now. Sasha had no idea when it started or when it would end. She hoped it would be soon. Endless discussing, no solutions. It sounded like angry bears were having a fight downstairs.

Sasha sighed, she really hoped they would stop soon. They usually kept going until midnight, and even after they went to bed, you could feel the tensions between them. It was because of that she didn't do well in school at the time. Her grades crashed down since her parents started fighting, and she hated it. She did so well before, but because of her being anxious every time she went home, she didn't get her homework done and because of that she wasn't prepared for school.

Sasha sighed again and buried her head in the pillow in a desperate attempt to block out the sounds. The soft fabric of the pillow didn't block out much sound, but it was much better than before. Sasha could feel herself slowly falling asleep as her eyelids got heavier and heavier, until everything turned black.

Sasha woke up to complete silence. It was sunday morning. It was still raining outside. Sasha reached for her phone in blindness caused by just waking up. She lazily grabbed it and turned it on. The light stung in her eyes as the Iphone logo appeared on her screen. Sasha could feel it was still a bit too early to move out of the bed and fight her way to the computer, even though she really wanted to. The distance just seemed to far and she weren't in the mood to even think of trying. Sasha actually thought of spending the whole day in bed. Sasha blamed her tiredness on her parents fighting. Before they started fighting she was never tired, always so full of energy. Now she felt like she had rocks for legs. She was interrupted in her train of thoughts by a little ringing sound coming from her phone. Weird didn't she mute it? She shrugged it off as a bad memory and opened the locked screen. She went to her messages and checked her inbox. She had recieved a message from someone with a private number. No one sent her messages often so who could it be? There was only one word in the message. Help. Sasha sighed again. Maybe it was from one of the boys from her class. They usually did weird pranks like these. Sasha let herself fall back into the soft pillows and closed her eyes again. A little more sleep wouldn't hurt would it?

Sasha opened her eyes again. This time she was a little more awake than before. Sasha rolled onto her side and sat up in the bed. She let her feet hit the floor, and took her phone with her to the computer. She quickly looked at the small screen and realised she had recieved 20 new messages. Sasha started to feel a bit weirded out. Couldn't be the prankers again could it? But when she checked she realised it was. In all 20 messages it said the same word over and over again. Help, help, help, help, and it went on and on. Sasha got a bit annoyed and decided that maybe later she would write a message to them and ask what was going on, if they kept going. Sasha sat down on her chair and turned on the computer, maybe playing computer games could get her mood up.

After playing for about an hour she was suddenly startled by a loud machine-like noise coming from the garden. It was probably her parents cutting down some smaller bushes with a motorsaw. Even though they always fought, atleast they could agree on what was going to happen with the garden. They were both very obsessed with making the garden into a prizewinning masterpiece. She giggled a bit at the thought of that. If someone ever dared to make a wrong step in that garden Sasha was pretty sure they would be chased out immediatly, while being a target for flying rakes or other garden tools.

After a while of playing a bit more (yes she was indeed a gaming addict) Sasha went upstairs to get some breakfast. Her parents had gone inside aswell, so it was probably an appropiate time to make her way to the kitchen now. As she walked up the stairs she could hear the faint rustling of her mother in the kitchen.
”Hello dear how are you?” Her mother must have heard her coming up the stairs.
”I'm fine, a bit tired but else i'm good” Sasha answered taking the last few steps up. Sasha made her way into the kitchen to find something to eat. Her stomach growled as she did so and her mother smiled silently.
”Hungry? I made some toast for you” Her mother smiled, and reached out for a plate lying on the table.
Sasha sleepily leaned up against the cold wall, ”yeah i'm a bit hungry thanks”. Sasha said and took the toast. Sasha went to the fridge and grabbed some juice too.
”Where's dad by the way?” Sasha looked at her mother. It was now she realised the emptiness of the room and the missing huggable bear that Sasha often called her father.
”Oh he's shopping, he should be done soon” Her mother said with a somewhat weird look in her eyes that Sasha never had seen before. Deciding she would not ask for it anymore, in fear of her mother being angry with her, Sasha went to the dining room to eat her toast.

It was a boring day. Sasha had done almost everything there was to do, she even did her homework for monday which was a really unnatural thing for her to do. Her father was still not home from shopping and it had been 4 hours now. Weird he was usually really fast when it came to stuff like that. He hated going shopping for food and it was usually done in 15 minutes. The grocery store were even really close to the house, so where could he be? Hiding from his wife probably. Sasha wouldn't be surprised he hid from her, after all they avoided talking as much as possible and when they did, well they didn't talk they yelled. Sasha decided she would go ask her mother, she probably knew what took him so long.
”Hey mom” she called up the stairs.
”Yes what is it?” Sasha heard her mother calling back slightly annoyed.
”Are you sure dad's still out shopping food? He's been gone for some time now” Sasha yelled.
”He's done soon dear he's done soon don't worry” her mother answered. Sasha wasn't sure of what to do, her mother never acted like this. Maybe she should just wait and see.

Back in her room Sasha quickly checked her phones messages again. She gasped as she saw how many there was. The mysterious person had sent her atleast 50 new messages. The latest one had lots of words in it. Even weirder was that the letters didn't even act the way they should. They were spread all over the screen like the phone had some sort of virus, and Sasha quickly threw the phone aside. It landed on the bed but the text message sound kept playing over and over again, signalling new messages kept coming in. This was starting to get really weird. Sasha went to her bed, took the phone and hid it under a pillow. To be honest it wasn't the brighest idea she could have come up with but she didn't think straight. The boys from her class couldn't possibly use their whole day on this prank. Why would they do that. Maybe she just shouldn't think about it. Yes that would be for the best.

As the afternoon time came closer, Sasha began to get more and more worried. Her father wasn't back yet and her mother didn't even care. If there was one person that wasn't out for more than an hour a day, it was her father and she didn't know what to do. Her mother had already started preparing dinner but after asking for her father more than 20 times she wouldn't let her get near her any longer and told her she should just stop asking about it. And as the good girl Sasha was she decided it was best to leave her alone for a bit. As Sasha sat in her bed the ringing tones from her phone just wouldn't stop. She had recieved about 200 messages today and counting. Sasha had even tried turning off the phone, but for some reason it kept turning itself back on and the messages just kept coming in. In the end Sasha decided to ignore it and try to calm herself down, her biggest problem now was her fathers mysterious disappearance. Where could he be...
”Dinner's ready dear!” Sasha almost jumped in surprise as her mothers voice cut through the thin air of silence.
”Coming!” she yelled back up and quickly moved out of the bed to go upstairs.

Her mother was already eating when she came up. They had a beef of some sort, nothing special. Sasha sat down at her usual chair right next to the window and looked up at her mother. An eerie silence filled the air, as Sasha reached out for the meat and put it on her plate. A cough escaped Sasha and she decided that now would be a good time to ask about her father.
”So um mom i know you don't like me asking but when will dad be home?” Her mother stopped all movement leaving her completely frozen. Sasha took a bite of the beef preparing herself for her mothers anger. Sasha watched as she slowly cut another piece of meat preparing herself for her mothers anger. Sashas mother slowly stood up and moved towards Sasha in a weird twisted walk. Sweat broke out all over Sashas body as her mother came closer and closer. Her mother looked down on Sasha smiling wickedly and giggling. Her mothers arms reached out for Sasha and pulled her into a hug. Sasha could feel her mothers warm breath on her neck.
The world seemed to slow down as Sasha sat in a position where she was forced to look at the beef in front of her. Her mother slowly pointed down on the beef and whispered into Sashas ears.
”He's home now dear, he's home now” Sasha could feel her breathing quickening sickly as her mothers fingers wrapped around her throat squezing it tightly.
”The beef was great but i want some more aren't you still hungry too dear?”
The title doesen't really match the story a lot, i just had no idea what title to give it XD. So this is a small horror story (kinda). I don't really write stories in english too often (never do, unless i have exams or homework) so sorry if there's too many mistakes in this text (my first language is not english =P (Razz) ) and also i don't know if it's too boring when it starts but i don't write horror often so... Well i hope you enjoy it anyways :D (Big Grin)
